5 Romblon LGUs, led by lady mayors, garner Seal of Good Local Governance award

ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) — Five municipalities in the province of Romblon have been recognized with the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) this year.

The awarded municipalities, namely Alcantara, Looc, Odiongan, San Fernando, and Santa Maria, all led by female mayors, stand among the 401 municipalities nationwide to receive this prestigious recognition. They are part of the six municipalities in the Mimaropa region acknowledged for their outstanding governance.

The official awarding ceremony is scheduled for December 13 and 14.

The Seal of Good Local Governance is a program designed to incentivize and recognize local government units (LGUs) that consistently demonstrate excellence in various governance areas. Instituted by Republic Act 11292, the SGLG is based on 10 assessment criteria: Financial Administration and Sustainability; Disaster Preparedness; Social Protection and Sensitivity; Health Compliance and Responsiveness; Sustainable Education; Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness; Safety, Peace and Order; Environmental Management; Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture and Arts; and Youth Development.

LGUs receiving the SGLG are entitled to incentive fund subsidies for projects that align with good fiscal administration, disaster preparedness, social protection and sensitivity programs, health, education, peace and order, public safety, business-friendliness, and competitiveness. This recognition reflects the commitment of these municipalities to continuous improvement and outstanding performance. (PJF/PIA Mimaropa – Romblon)
