1. Communication Research Program
The Communication Research projects and activities
of PIA serve as the listening function of the government to determine
information needs, problems, and priorities. It monitors the public
pulse with respect to government programs and to communication-related
issues. It is here that relevant data are gathered and stored for
communication planning / policy formulation and project development as
well as for easy retrieval and dissemination.
2. Institutional Development Program
The Institutional Development projects and activities of the PIA
look after the broadening of people's access to media and the upgrading of skills and ethical standards among communication personnel, particularly those in government. Basically, it strengthens networking and linkages with non-government and private media organizations and the academe to widen communication networks. It also conducts training and value orientation programs to fully professionalize communication personnel and services in the PIA and in client institutions.
3. Information Production Program
The Information Production projects and activities of the PIA provide assistance in carrying out the communication component of government programs. It provides the venue for interagency liaison with government agencies and nongovernment organizations. Under this program, creative and technical assistance are provided in planning, conceptualization, development, production, and delivery of multimedia (print, television, radio, film, slide-tape presentations, photo exhibitions, puppet, and community theater) materials.
4. Information Dissemination Program
The Information Dissemination projects and activities of the PIA provide outlets for government and general information, gather feedback on government programs and data on community needs, and conduct local communication-related projects.
