DAR launches Lake Sebu ARC

Koronadal City (17 March) -- The Department of Agrarian Reform launched El Klowil Agrarian Reform Committees Lake Sebu, South Cotabato. El Klowil Agrarian Reform Communities (ARC) comprise the barangayas of Luhib, Bacdulog, and Talisay.

The ARC was initiated by DAR as one of the government's strategies to fast track development in the countryside through a participatory development process that will identify rural infrastructures, agricultural development and institutional development interventions needed in the area to bring about increase in production and income of farmers to improve their quality of life.

As an ARC, these three (3) barangays are now recipient of the Solar Power Technology Support (SPOTS) projects. These projects include Potable Water System and Solar House Lighting Systems and the appropriate institutional and agricultural development support.

After Chief Agrarian Reform Program Officer Lumumba Pido declared El Klowil as ARC, he handed over to the Local Government Units (LGU) Lake Sebu that Potable Water Systems in the barangays of Bacdulong and Talisay. The total Project cost is P4, 280, 661.00 benefiting 480 households.

Barangay Luhib on the other hand will also have one PWS under Phase II of the SPOTS projects. Under the Phase II of SPOTS, three (3) barangays outside the ARC will likewise receive PWS. The PWS in Baranagay Glandang will serve 114 households, 108 households in Barangay Afus and 87 households in Barangay Spring.

All of these barangays will receive Solar Home Packages lighting 377 houses with an estimated cost of P6, 073, 470.00.
