FPOP supports passage of RH bill
SAN MATEO, Isabela, May 19 (PIA) -- Newly installed Family Planning Organization of the Philippines (FPOP) president and Isabela Sangguniang Panlalawigan ex-officio member expressed support for the immediate passage of the Reproductive Health (RH) bill, which is pending in Congress.
Napoleon Hernandez made the support as he sees the effectiveness of implementing the country’s reproductive health program if the RH bill becomes a law.
The FPOP now has started an advocacy and information and education campaigns in the country to convey to the public the importance of having a law that directly addresses the reproductive health needs of Filipinos.
He said a reproductive health care act would give direct health services access to the public, which, he said, would be beneficial to all ages especially the poor.
He also said that FPOP will be supporting the government in the health advocacy and in the passage of the RH bill in order that every Filipino can understand and decide for their family welfare.
The new FPOP head also plans to establish a community-based health distributors in the country where the public can avail of family planning services.
Hernandez also said they will ensure that the 26 FPOP chapters and clinics in the country is providing a wide range of family planning services and in examining the diseases of women. (TCB/ME-PIA Isabela)
