Wednesday 29th of February 2012TABUK CITY, Kalinga, Feb. 29(PIA) -- Five hundred sixty two members of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) in the province successful held a two-day provincial encampment here last February 25-26.
Gumie Pinkihan, Head of GSP-Kalinga Chapter, said the theme for this year's encampment is, “Together, we can save planet Earth” as way of creating awareness among the young scouts to help protect and preserve the environment and natural resources.The provincial encampment was a joint activity for senior (high school) and junior (elementary) scouts.
It was the 17th Senior Provincial Encampment and 28th Junior Provincial Encampment at the Talama view deck, overlooking the vast greenery of Tabuk City and the stretch of the Chico River.
To expose the scouts to their natural environment, they took an eco-walk climbing the two cell tower sites at the peak s of Mt. Talama, the highest point of the city.
For their safety and health care, camp organizers sought security personnel from the Philippine Army and medical team during the activity. (LL-PIA CAR,Kalinga)
