Saturday 3rd of March 2012CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, March 3 (PIA) – As part of its disaster preparedness and response program, funded in large part by a grant from the United States Agency for International Development/Office for Foreign Disaster Assistance (USAID/OFDA), the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) gave four laptop computers, one tower server, and one blade server, with a total value of around P650,000, to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) last March 1.
The hardware is part of a long-term initiative to better harness information and communication technologies to improve DSWD’s logistical tracking and information flows during natural disaster responses.
DSWD, thru Assistant Secretary Vilma Cabrera, accepted the assistance of WFP led by Country Director and Representative Stephen Anderson, Coordinator of Disaster Preparedness and Response Abraham Abatneh, Head of Logistics Dragoslav Djuraskovic, and USAID Program Officer Karen Smith. (APB-PIA 10)
