Friday 2nd of March 2012CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, March 2 (PIA) -- The members of the quad-media here underscored the contributions of the firefighters to Northern Mindanao during the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) media forum yesterday, “Talakayan,” with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) as guest agency.
John Paul Barsopia, news writer, expressed gratitude to BFP at the onset of typhoon Sendong when the city experienced water crisis. People in the area benefited from the water ration brought by the bureau for about a month. Water was being rationed in the city after several water pumps of the local water distribution firm were destroyed by floods brought by Sendong.
Butch Enerio, on other hand, underscored the importance of recognizing firefighters’ contributions in which he considered the profession a noble one especially on saving lives and protecting properties.
This year, BFP in Northern Mindanao celebrates Fire Prevention Month with the theme, “Makiisa, Makialam at Makipagtulungan upang Sunog ay Maiwasan.”
Superintendent Lindy C. Lauzon, Regional Director, BFP-10, said fire safety is everybody’s concern and we need the support of the public to combat occurrence of destructive fires.
Meanwhile, Supt. Alan N. Aladano, assistant regional director for operations, said among the lined-up activities for the fire prevention month include poster making, photo and essay writing to be participated in by elementary and high school students. (EOR-PIA 10)
