KORONADAL CITY, Aug 1 (PIA) -- Forty-five inmates from Cotabato District Jail will undergo skills training under the livelihood program which the Cotabato provincial government launched yesterday, July 31, to train detainees skills helpful in improving their lives.

This program is in collaboration with Kidapawan City Skills Training Center Inc. (KCSTCI) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) where inmates will be trained in different livelihood skills such as cooking and handicrafts making.

Also, the program will enable them to collect funds that can help support their daily needs.

Florante Herrera, Cotabato Tesda provincial director stated that their office provided P50, 000 for the training of the detainees. In line with the training, inmates will be given national certificates from Tesda.

On the other hand, in her message during the launching, Cotabato Governor Emmylou Mendoza expressed her full support for the program since she believes that it will help improve the lives of inmates.

“I hope this will change the lives of the detainees, making them better persons once they are outside,” Mendoza said.

The governor also thanked Tesda and KCSTCI being partners in promoting “Serbisyong Totoo.”

The livelihood program for the inmates of Cotabato district jail is anchored on the theme, “Kasanayang Teknikal sa Piitan, Daan Tungo sa Kaunlaran”. (SJD-PIA12)
