RDC 12 taps info network for PDP-RDP advocacy

KORONADAL CITY, June 14 (PIA) -- Soccsksargen’s Regional Development Council (RDC-12) is enlisting the Information Coordinating Network (ICON 12) as a partner in the information, education and communication campaign of the development agenda of the national and regional government.

In a letter dated June 4, NEDA 12 Director and RDC 12 Vice Chairperson Arturo Valero told PIA 12 Regional Director Olivia Sudaria that the council passed Resolution No. 68 s. 2012 during its 37th regular meeting in General Santos City on March 27.

The resolution is entitled “Tapping the Information Coordinating Network (ICON) of Region XII as Partner of RDC XII in the Advocacy for the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) and the Soccsksargen Regional Development Plan (RDP), 2011 – 2016.”

ICON 12 is an organization of information and communication officers of regional line agencies and local government units in the provinces of Sarangani, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and North Cotabato as well as the cities of Cotabato, Kidapawan, Tacurong, Koronadal, and General Santos.

As an organization, ICON 12, disseminates information on government programs, projects and activities as well as report news that promote transparency, accuracy, and truth about government activities.

PIA 12 serves as overseer agency of ICON 12.

At present it is being chaired by Michael Ferdinand Flores, information officer designate of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC)-12.

The resolution states “to further strengthen and ensure a more focused advocacy on the PDP and RDP, RDC shall tap the ICON as partner in the conduct of advocacy activities on both plans.”

It also directs ICON 12 to submit recommended activities for the massive dissemination of developments to the RDC 12 through the council’s secretariat. (DEDoguiles/PIA 12)
