Southern Leyte disaster team kicks off cross visit in Albay province
MAASIN CITY, Southern Leyte, May 31 (PIA) -- The Southern Leyte Disaster Risk Reduction Action Officers are off to Albay to visit the World Bank Funded Project, “Bote at Kampana,” in Sitio Inang Maharang, Albay.
Maasin City delegate, Ritche G. Sumalinog said that the visit will be from May 31 - June 3.
“ It is an opportunity given to the province to ensure that the indigenous practices in disaster risk reduction using bottles and bells would be shared and replicated in the province, while the Southern Leyte group will also share the Disaster Preparedness through SMS Technology to the Albay constituents,” said Sumalinog.
The DRR team from Southern Leyte is composed of the PBSP team, Provincial Disaster Management Office staff, action officers from the 10 pilot local government units throughout the province such as Malitbog, Bontoc, Libagon, Liloan, San Francisco, Pintuyan, San Ricardo, Saint Bernard, and Hinunangan and the city of Maasin.
Other activities of the cross visit include a project briefing, demonstration on the use of flash flood scapeline, evacuation drill using the bell, and impressions from both sides, from the province of Southern Leyte and the province of Albay, among other activities.
