Leyte provincial employees assures support to “No Plastic, No Styrofor” policy

TACLOBAN CITY,  Leyte, Feb.11 (PIA) --   Officers and members of  Leyte Provincial Association of Government Employees has agreed to implement the resolution on the “No Plastic, No Styrofor” policy of the provincial government.
 
Board Member Roque Tiu who recently, was guest of the Suruswerte Ha PIA radio program, commended the officers of PAGE for giving their assurance to also monitor the implementation of the policy in the different buildings and offices of the Provincial Government.
 
The Board Member added  the PAGE officers led by its president Mr. Danny Redoňa of the Leyte Provincial Agriculture Office, will also promote the policy as they travel from one local government to another in the territorial jurisdiction of Leyte.
 
The commitment of the provincial employees as manifested by the PAGE officers is unprecedented, Board Member Tiu said.
 
The provincial law-maker disclosed that before the resolution declaring the Leyte Provincial Government offices and buildings as Plastic, Styrofor-free zones, was presented to the Provincial Board, a consultative meeting was conducted by the SP Committee on Environment and Natural Resources together with the officers of PAGE.
 
The consultative meeting was to present the idea to the provincial employees who will be the ones affected by the resolution as  it calls for the banning entry of food caterers, delivery personnel of food chains and food vendors and the like using plastic bags or styrofor receptacles as containers of food.
Instead of the expected opposition, the officers of the PAGE gave positive and enthusiastic responses. The officers even decided to make the implementation, monitoring and promotion of the policy, a project of the PAGE according to Board Member Tiu.(PIA 8)
