Napolcom to lead crime prevention week celebration
NAVAL, Biliran, Sept 1 (PIA) -- The National Police Commission (Napolcom)-Biliran provincial office, headed by lawyer Lolita Nueve, will lead the kick-off activity on September 3 for the celebration of the 18th Crime Prevention Week, scheduled on September 1 to 7.
The kick-off activity includes a thanksgiving mass at the Naval Cathedral, a parade around the main thoroughfares of Naval town, followed by a short program at the provincial capitol.
Centered on the theme, “Sa crime prevention, may magagawa ako (In crime prevention, I can do something),” the Napolcom chief said she intends to launch the “Pito Laban sa Krimen” program in Biliran to curtail proliferation of lawless elements and other criminals in the locality.
The “Pito Laban sa Krimen” program considers the use of whistle blowing to distract the concentration of crime perpetrators and to attract the attention of people in the vicinity for immediate assistance to the victim.
Aside from the use of whistle (pito in Tagalog)-blowing, seven (pito in Filipino) agencies – Napolcom, Philippine National Police, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Education, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology and Bureau of Fire Protection - are working hand in hand for the success of the program in maintaining peace and order, and public safety all over the country.
SPO3 Ismael Corzon said during the Kapihan sa PIA over Radyo Natin-Naval that Biliran Police Provincial Office under PSSupt Felix Alberca Diloy, provincial director, is set to conduct lectures in the different high schools in the province and distribute leaflets and flyers as one of the highlights for this year’s crime prevention celebration in the province of Biliran.
The kick-off activity on September 3 is a simultaneous activity of Napolcom in Region 8. (PIA 8, Biliran)
