CSC says undergrads may take career exams

ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Aug 6 (PIA) -- The Civil Service Commission (CSC) is calling on out-of-school youth and undergraduate students to take the career service examinations.

Capiz CSC Director Maria Lina Gonzaga clarified that those who are 18 years old already at the time of filing of application could take either the professional or sub-professional exam.

The clarification was made for those who believe that only those who have earned 72 units in college could take the said test, she said.

Gonzaga said the second career examination is scheduled on October 21 with Kalibo, Iloilo and Bacolod City as testing centers.

She also said that deadline for filing of applications is on September 6, urging Capiceños to file their applications earlier so errors could still be corrected.

To qualify for the examination, the applicant must be a Filipino citizen with good moral character, must not have been convicted by final judgment of an offense or crime involving moral turpitude or disgraceful or immoral conduct, dishonesty, examination irregularity, drunkenness or addiction to drugs, or must not have been dishonorably discharged from military service or dismissed for cause from any civilian positions in government, and must not have taken the same level of examination in less than three month.

Gonzaga said applicants with pending administrative and or criminal case may be allowed to take the test and will be conferred the eligibility if they successfully pass the same.

If found guilty of grave offenses, the eligibility will be forfeited based on the penalties in the decision and pursuant to Section 52 (a) of the Revised Rules on Administrative Cases in the Civil Service, she said.

During the recent career examination in Capiz, only 68 Capiceños were able to hurdle it out of the 1,649 applicants.

Gonzaga said, of the total successful examinees, 54 passed the professional level while the remaining 14others are passers in the sub-professional level. (JCM/JBG/PIA6-Capiz)
