DOE dialogues with provnc'l jeepney operators
SAN JOSE, ANTIQUE, June 23 (PIA) -- A group of jeepney operators had a dialogue with a representative from the Department of Energy (DOE) on Thursday looking for clarification regarding the issue of costs of fuel.
The operators wanted to know why gasoline stations do not roll back the price of gasoline fuel on the day it was announced that prices of this product has been rolled back in the world market.
They alleged that retailers of these petroleum products are not following the proper procedure and therefore are making much profit from such violation.
In answer to these queries, Engineer Rey Maleza of DOE Visayas explained that gasoline fuel distributors are obliged to bring down prices of these products upon announcement of rollback from the head office. A certain time has been alloted that upon the opening of the day's business, adjustments on the price of their petroleum products must already be in place.
However, in the event that gasoline distributors do not follow such guidance, consumers can document violations by taking pictures of the prices posted by gasoline stations. They can then send this directly to gasoline companies and copy furnish DOE.
Maleza clarified that complaints should be sent first to gasoline companies as it is their responsibility to address such concerns. However, if these companies are not available, consumers are advised to send their querries to DOE at (+332) 253-3459. (JCM/MLG-PIA 6, Antique)
