NSO reports latest Mimaropa population count
CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro, May 19 (PIA) -- The National Statistics Office (NSO) provincial office has disclosed recently that the population count from the 2010 Census of Population and Housing (CPH), which reflects that the total population of Mimaropa region in 2010 was counted at 2,744,671 persons based on the NSO’s recent report.
This translates to an annual growth rate of 1.79 percent from the 2000 population of 2,299,229.
Among the five provinces and one highly urbanized city in Mimaropa, Oriental Mindoro had the biggest population with 785,602 followed by Palawan, excluding Puerto Princesa City with 771,667 and Occidental Mindoro with 452,971. Romblon had a population of 283,930 and Marinduque with 227,828. The highly urbanized City of Puerto Princesa had a population of 222,637.
NSO’s report also said that as of May 1, 2010, the total population of the Philippines is 92,337,852 based on the result of population survey in 2010. The population increased at the rate of 1.90 percent annually, on the average during the period 2000-2010 which means that for every 100 persons in the population approximately two persons are added every year.
The report also identified Calabarzon as the highest in population count among the 17 regions at 12,609,803. The National Capital Region (NCR) was second highest at 11,855,975 and Central Luzon ranked third with a population of 10,137,737.
The recent report conducted by NSO and was officially declared by President Benigno S. Aquino III through Proclamation No. 362 dated March 30, 2012. (NSO Provincial Office/LTC-PIA4B Calapan)
