DSWD grants P.5M SEA-K fund to Or. Mindoro beneficiaries

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro, Feb. 9 (PIA) -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) granted recently an amount of P594,000 to the beneficiaries of Self-Employment Assistance-Kaunlaran (SEA-K) during the convergence caravan held in Bongabong town.


The three associations that benefited from the financial assistance were Kabalikat SEA-K, Hawak Kamay SEA-K, and Gabay sa Pag-unlad.


Social Welfare Secretary Corazon Soliman, in a statement, stressed the need for unity and cooperation among concerned agencies in the implementation of livelihood programs.


Meanwhile, Gov. Alfonso V. Umali, Jr. expressed his gratitude to DSWD for giving financial assistance to Mindoreños. He also emphasized that unity among the local chief executives plays a vital role in the creation of more livelihood programs in the entire province of Oriental Mindoro.


He requested Soliman to give additional benefits or honoraria for all barangay health workers and other volunteer groups. (Louie T. Cueto/PIA-4B)
