Carmona LGU conducts 2-day relief operations

TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite, Aug 17 (PIA) -- The local government of Carmona conducted a two-day relief operations in barangays affected by floods caused by last week’s southwest monsoon.

Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer Carmen Sarita led the distribution of relief goods in Barangay Cabilang Baybay while 33 families from Barangay Maduya including 27 families from Phase 3, Barangay Milagrosa were given meals at the evacuation centers.

Barangay Mabuhay Chairman Franklin De Sosa also handed relief goods to the residents of Quarry, Kubkob, and Daromar compound.

Mayor Dahlia Loyola also turned over rescue equipment to the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and its Rescue Recovery and Security (RRS) Committee to provide immediate assistance during emergencies.

According to reports from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council, 299 families were affected in the municipality and 33 families living along riverbanks were evacuated at Barangay Maduya and Phase 3 in Barangay Milagrosa.

In barangays Mabuhay, Cabilang Baybay, Lantic, Mabuhay and Maduya and Milagrosa, 266 families suffered knee-high floods for several hours during the heavy rains.

The RRS Committee which is composed of personnel from the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Municipal Health Office and the Civil Security Unit received high angle rescue, water rescue, emergency response and vehicular crash or extrication equipment to enhance their rescue capability in times of disasters.
