Gov’t agencies to give assistance to Nueva Vizcaya disabled persons
BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Aug 1 (PIA) -- The national and local government agencies here will be giving credit assistance and technical training programs and services to disabled persons in the province.
Venus Cadabona, executive assistant of the provincial government here, said that the local government unit, through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), will be implementing the Person With Disabilities Accumulating Savings and Credit Association (Pacsa) program to fund livelihood projects of disabled persons.
The Pacsa, which will be piloted in the municipalities of Diadi, Aritao, and Dupax del Norte, will be opening up savings and credit services for the disabled persons.
“This project will be introduced in local government units in the province where organizations of disabled persons exist,” Cadabona said.
She said the Pacsa will provide small capital for PWDs who are interested to engage in micro-enterprises at minimal interest rates.
This will also provide alternative employment for some 5,000 registered PWD members in the province.
According to Cadabona, vocational training on dressmaking, tailoring, massage therapy, and other technical skills are also being offered to provide livelihood skills among the PWD members.
“At present, we have sent six PWDs on a training in Dagupan City which will be assisted by the national government,” she said.
Through the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the trainees will be given P2,200 monthly allowance in order to complete the 10-month training including their two-month on-the-job training with different agencies.
“With these programs, we hope to uplift the plight of the PWD sector and with their interest, dedication, and commitment to learn, we believe that they can also be a part of community development,” Cadabona said. (BME-PIA 2, Nueva Vizcaya)
