Foundation to sponsor fishing tournaments in Cagayan

TUGUEGARAO CITY, May 20 (PIA) -- The Department of Tourism (DOT) in region 2 announced that the Philippine Game Fishing Foundation, Inc (PGFFI) will be sponsoring two sports fishing tournaments on May 23-26 at Sta. Ana, Cagayan.

DOT 2 Director Blessida Diwa said the events include the Triple V 11th Philippine Billfish Tournament and the 55th National Sportfishing Tournament.

Diwa said the anglers will be housed at the Don Andres Soriano Fishing Camp located at Brgy San Vicente, Sta. Ana. “Their fishing areas will be along the coastal areas of San Vicente to Susay Rock located between the town of Sta. Ana and the Babuyanes Group of Islands,” Diwa announced.

The Philippine Game Fishing Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides a venue for game fishing enthusiasts to participate in fishing tournaments as well as organize fun fishing trips.

They also teach the public, particularly the fishermen, the importance of marine conservation and provide a medium through which sports-minded people may receive various instruction in the accepted international requirements for sport fishing. (TCB-PIA 2)
