16 PRO1 personnel receive ‘Medalya ng Kagalingan’

CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO, San Fernando City, La Union, June 28 (PIA) -- The Philippine National Police honored three commissioned and 13 non-commissioned officers of the Philippine National Police (PNP) – Regional Office 1 (PRO1) with the ‘Medalya ng Kagalingan’ during PNP chief Nicanor A. Bartolome’s first command visit in the province.

Awarded by Bartolome, the medal is in recognition of their bravery and exemplary conduct after an armed encounter with cattle rustlers in Sitio Sipit, Bacnar, San Carlos City, Pangasinan on April 15.

The encounter led to the death of one of the suspects and the recovery of a stolen cattle, a caliber .38 revolver loaded with ammunitions, two spent shells and an MK2 fragmentation grenade.

Region 1 police director Franklin Jesus B. Bucayu said this is a manifestation that PRO1 is equipped with able and capable police force, willing to risk life and limbs to ensure the safety of the community.

They have displayed great concern and dedication in sustaining the Police Regional Office 1’s legacy as “Home of the Citizen Friendly Policemen and Protectors of Human Rights,” Bucayu said.

Earlier, the official also commended and expressed satisfaction with this accomplishment and encouraged his men to continue sustaining PRO1’s crime solution initiatives.
