SANTIAGO, Ilocos Sur, August 3 (PIA) -- An eight-hour brownout is scheduled today in the second district of this province.

It will affect 17 towns and one city under the coverage of the distribution utility (DU) of the Candon Sub- station of the Ilocos Sur Electric Cooperative (ISECO).

Lilibeth P. Gaydowen of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said that their agency has set the power interruption for the preventive maintenance activities along San Esteban-Candon 69kV transmission line.

She said the brownout will start at 8 a.m. and will end at 5 p.m.

“The affected areas of this scheduled power interruptions are the towns of San Esteban, Santiago, Banayoyo, Sta. Lucia, Galimuyod, Tagudin, Salcedo, Sta. Cruz, Suyo, Sigay, Quirino, San Emilio, Gregorio del Pilar, Alilem, Cervantes, Lidlidda and Sugpon; and Candon City,” she said.

Gaydowen said specific cities and municipalities to be affected by the power interruption are determined by the aforementioned DU, unless the activity affects the entire franchise area.

The DU allots the available power within its franchise area and implements the power interruption schedule among end-users.

Normal operations will immediately resume after work completion.

NGCP’s customers and the general public are advised to take the necessary preparations and precautions for this scheduled interruption, Gaydowen added. (JCR/FGL-PIA 1 Ilocos Sur)
