SAN NICOLAS, Ilocos Norte, June 13 (PIA) -- In celebration of the 114th Philippine Independence Day, the municipality of San Nicolas in Ilocos Norte conducted a job fair and blood-letting activity to highlight the event.

There are 50 job offerings, mostly personnel for department stores like sales clerk, managerial position, supervisor, sales associate, and other related jobs.

Apart from the job fair, a blood-letting activity was conducted at the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center (MMMH&MC) in Batac City.

According to San Nicolas Mayor Alfredo Valdez, in his speech during the event, their town is the highest contributor on blood donation recorded in the province.

“This is a way to show our love for our countrymen. Donating blood, for example, teaches us to be compassionate to people in need. The same thing in providing jobs, we are able to help others for progress,” said Valdez.

The two activities, which highlighted the 114th Independence Day celebration, were conducted at the municipal hall ground last June 12 after the flag raising ceremony.

The blood-letting activity and job fair are continuing programs of the local government of san Nicolas, conducted monthly by their respective local agencies.

San Nicolas is now a booming town with rising industries and flourishing trade and commerce. Under the present administration, it has been hailed as “The Best Performing LGU” in the region, among many other honors.

The town likewise contributes to the development of the people, province, and nation by way of education. It has also been awarded as a regional literacy champion. (ANL/CJD-PIA 1 Ilocos Norte)
