Tech-voc graduates have better job prospects, says Las Piñas mayor

LAS PIÑAS, June 21 (PIA) -- Las Piñas City Mayor Nene Aguilar said that students taking up technical and vocational (tech-voc) courses have better job prospects.

This, as 950 city residents will soon graduate from various vocational and technical courses at the Las Piñas City Manpower and Training Center on July 5.

In a release sent to PIA-NCR, Aguilar said the free training on various courses is aimed at helping the residents find gainful employment and help them start their own home-based or backyard business in order to augment their family’s meager income.

The city’s Manpower Training Center offers automotive servicing, commercial cooking, consumer electronics, food and beverages services, hairdressing, massage therapy, personal computer operations, refrigeration and aircon servicing, shielded metal arc welding, industrial electricity, cell phone repair, housekeeping, and travel services.

Every year, around 5,000 out-of-school youths and unemployed adults benefit from the free training. The training center is also awarded by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) as one of the Most Outstanding Skills Training Centers in the country.

Meanwhile, Aguilar noted that graduates of the training center have the opportunity to apply for work abroad citing bigger demand for skilled workers abroad as they have been molded and trained for various courses and specializations.

“These graduates are now ready to give quality and world-class service in all parts of the globe,” Aguilar added.

The local chief executive also expressed confidence that the new batch of graduates will value their gained technical and vocational knowledge to improve their lives and become better citizens. (LAS PIÑAS-PIO/RJB/JEG-PIA-NCR)
