No cases filed against PIA officials and employees in 2011 --Office of the Ombudsman

QUEZON CITY, June 17 (PIA) – "No case had been filed in 2011 against PIA officials and personnel".

This was the assurance made by Assistant Ombudsman Woemark Ryan G. Layson in a letter addressed to PIA Director General Jose A. Fabia.

Earlier, a statistical report released by the Ombudsman indicated that the PIA ranked 4th with a total of 490 cases in calendar year 2011.

Upon receipt of a letter from PIA (dated May 22 ) asking clarification on the report, Layson said that “the Office immediately reviewed the raw data which was a product of data integration manually undertaken based on the reports of our Area/Sectoral Offices.”

“After a second look, the Office found out that the data were inadvertently recorded to PIA," Layson said.

Layson added that as a remedial measure, the Office recalled and revised the pertinent news bulletin posted on its website. “We give assurance to be more prudent and prevent similar occurrence in the future.”

Atty. Jose A. Fabia in an interview said he was very pleased with the clarification made by the Office of the Ombudsman even as he underscored that since the current leadership assumed office in 2010," PIA has zero notice of disallowances, zero notice of suspensions, and zero notice of charges for all audited financial transactions in the Central Office for 2010 up to present.

" We instituted institutional reforms in the Agency and our efforts are bearing fruits in terms of accomplishments and value for money" Fabia added.(RDA/PIA-Central)
