Some LGUs in NCR, 4A suspend classes
QUEZON CITY, July 20 (PIA) -- The Department of Education (DepEd) said that some local government units have suspended classes for preschool, elementary and secondary public and private schools due to bad weather.
For the National Capital Region, classes were suspended in Pasay, Pateros, Manila and Parañaque, according to the 10 a.m.DepEd advisory sent to PIA.
In Region 4A, the classes were cancelled in Angono, Antipolo City, Cainta, Binangonan, and Teresa in Rizal; Rosario and Noveleta in Cavite.
DepEd said the suspension of classes was done by the LGUs in coordination with their officials in the affected areas.
Early in January this year, Pres. Benigno Aquino III signed Executive Order No. 66, transferring the responsibility of announcing suspension of classes from DepEd to the LGUs, in absence of typhoon signal warnings. (DepEd)
