Japan-ASEAN Youth Exchange for Young Footballers
JAKARTA, 20 June 2012 --Young football players under 14 years old (U-14) from five ASEAN Member States (Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Singapore) are in Japan this week for an exchange program with Japanese U-14 football players.
While in Japan, they will have friendly matches with Japanese U-14 football teams, participate in the education scheme "Kokoro Project" and watch J-League (Japan's professional football league) matches, according to a press release from ASEAN.
Under the framework of the JENESYS (Japan-East Asia Network for Exchange of Students and Youths) Programme, this youth exchange event is taking place from 17 to 24 June.
In 2009, U-15 football players from the Mekong region (Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Viet Nam) and Thailand visited Japan under this programme. This time, the remaining five countries are invited.
It is expected that this project will promote friendly exchange and mutual understanding between Japan and ASEAN youths.(ASEAN)
