TABUK CITY, Kalinga, June 22 (PIA) -- Two farmer groups here will soon boost their farms with the equipment they would be getting from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Cordillera regional office.

DOLE CAR Regional Director Henry John Jalbuena approved the request for livelihood support from Kalinga Gov. Jocel C. Baac to the province’s flagship economic program on “Pumiyaan,” the provincial government-initiated anti-poverty program.

The DOLE grant will enhance the livelihood capability of rice farmers in San Francisco, Rizal, and farmer-members of the Dupligan Multi-purpose Cooperative in Tanudan.

Each will get P480,000 worth of heavy rice mill and rice thresher with complete set of accessories from DOLE-CAR.

The Pumiyaan, a brain-child of Gov. Baac, adopts the convergence approach in the delivery of government services, where programs from line agencies are integrated to address the economic needs of pilot areas.

Together with Jalbuena’s approval is his call to recipients of DOLE livelihood projects to do their best to change their present living condition so that could give their families a better future. (JDP/LL-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
