PNoy 1B Trees Program gets support from school
SAN JOSE, Antique, July 25 (PIA) -- The General Leandro Fullon National School in Fabrica, Hamtic Antique will conduct a tree planting activity on Thursday, July 26, dubbed ‘PNoy 1B Trees Program' in support to the National Greening Program of President Benigno S. Aquino III.
Merlinda E. Alvior, Principal of the GLFNS said the activity also aims to help preserve and protect the environment where their school is located which is in one of the upland areas of the town of Hamtic.
Supporting the tree planting activity are various agencies and private sector who donated some funds for the sustainable growing of the trees.
Tree planting at the designated tree park of GLFNS will be done by the students, teachers not only of the GLFNS but also of Hamtic South District, Philippine Army Reserved Command at Camp Fullon, San Jose among others.
San Jose Multi-purpose Cooperative will also join in the planting and has donated some funds for the fencing of the tree park to ensure protection of trees from stray animals.
Likewise, Community Environment and Natural Resource Office-San Jose in partnership with Municipal Agricultural Office of Hamtic has provided fruit and timber seedlings for said activity.
For its sustainability, the students of GLFNS taking up Horticulture as their major subject committed to ensure the survival of the trees.
Alvior said she is also counting on the support of local officials, national government agencies and community in general for the success of the activity. (JCM//PSM-PIA6 Antique)
