PNP Antique steps up "Oplan Katawhayan sa Dalan' campaign
SAN JOSE, Antique, May 25 (PIA) -- The Antique Provincial Police Office (APPO) has set up check points in municipalities in line with its campaign "Oplan Katawhayan sa Dalan (or, Oplan Road Safety)" in its endeavor to step up PNP anti-criminality drive.
PSSupt Ruperto T. Floro, Jr., Provincial Director APPO said ‘Oplan Katawhayan sa Dalan’ is a regional initiative of the Philippine National Police under the leadership of PCSupt. Cipriano E. Querol, Jr. aimed at neutralizing illegal activities or crimes related to the use of unregistered motorcycles.
“We want to get rid of crimes associated with motorcycle riding in tandem, said Floro. Thus, we forged a partnership with the Land Transportation Office, PNP Highway Patrol Group and local government units to conduct check points in all municipalities in the province,” he added.
SPO1 Rodel Canja, in-charge of Operations and Plans section of Antique PNP likewise said that since its implementation last week, several motorcycles were already given stickers indicating that they have legal credentials such as officials receipts (OR) and certificate of registration (CR) that will allow them to freely pass the checkpoints.
However, LTO would still apprehend drivers when found to have other violations like non-wearing of helmet, no signal light, inappropriate dress code, among others, explained Canja.
Since it is a regional undertaking, PNP appealed for the support of everyone, motorist, local officials and all other men in uniform to get rid of lawless elements in Western Visayas. (JCM//PSM/PIA6Antique)
