SAN JOSE, Antique, June 14 (PIA) -- To raise the awareness on the business of petroleum products, the Department of Energy (DOE) will visit the province of Antique on June 21 to meet with partner agencies, local government units (LGUs) and businessmen with stake in the petroleum industry.

Antonio F. Labios, Director of DOE in the Visayas in his communication to PIA said the Department of Energy will spearhead a focused inspection and monitoring of the downstream oil industry establishments in the province.

Labios stressed the main objective of the activity is to conduct massive inspection of liquid petroleum products (LPP) retail outlets and LPG establishments to ensure compliance with the existing rules and regulations governing the business of petroleum products.

Likewise, an information, education, and communication campaign will be conducted to provide venue for discussion by stakeholders and other concerned individuals on issues relative to the business of retailing petroleum products.

Expertise of partners agencies like DTI, BFP, DENR, DOST and LGUs will be tapped to enhance the awareness of the public and encourage LGU participation in the implementation of DOE rules and regulations pertaining to downstream oil industry.

Antique is a big user of various petroleum products. With the presence of many vehicles, including tricycles and motorcycles and retailers of LPG, it is important that people are made aware of DOE guidelines re use and retailing of these products for safety and proper guidance.
