DAR extends support to agrarian beneficiaries

KALIBO, Aklan, Sept 14 (PIA) -- A memorandum of agreement (MOA) was signed by Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations (ARBOs) located in two municipalities of Aklan and the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) to mark the start of Agrarian Reform Community Connectivity and Economic Support Services (ARCESS) project.

The two ARBOs, according to DAR-Aklan, are Bulabod, Rosario, Navitas (Burona) Irrigators Service Association of Malinao town and Aparicio Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries MPC of Ibajay.

The ARCCESS projects in the two towns aim to transform the farmers into viable entrepreneurs by providing support services that will increase their net income and improve their farming capabilities.

DAR-Aklan was represented in the MOA signing by Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer II Eberardo Erispe, while the two municipalities Malinao and Ibajay, were represented by Mayor Wilbert Ariel Igoy and Mayor Ma. Lourdes Miraflores respectively.

DAR-Aklan revealed that the ARCCESS project for Malinao, seen to enhance the palay and rice production and mechanization of the farmers in Malinao was sponsored by Bayan Muna Partylist Representative Teddy Casino while the project for Ibajay, centered on coconut production processing and marketing was sponsored by Representive Florencio T. Miraflores of the lone district of Aklan.

Each project, DAR-Aklan said, cost an average of P3 million. (JCM/VGV/DAR-PIA6 Aklan)
