BIR Records building in Iloilo now open
ILOILO CITY, July 7 (PIA) -- Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Deputy Commissioners Estela V. Sales, Celia King and Nelson Aspe graced the opening of the records building of the BIR Regional Office No. 11 in a ceremony held yesterday, July 6, here.
“Part of it is customer service and it will likewise give our people some kind of motivation because they have a better working condition," Sales said.
Regional Director Romulo L. Aguila, Jr. said in a PIA interview that the two-storey building will serve as a repository of the BIR's "mounting records in the region, likewise it will be used as additional facility to the newly created document processing division.”
“The facility which was constructed only last year is expected to improve the productivity and increase the confidence of the revenuers in the region,” said Director Aguila.
Aguila said the document processing division that is being implemented in the different regions will house all the tax returns filed by the tax payers.
The returns will be encoded “so that all these returns will be in our data base,” Aguila said, as he reported that the BIR Region No. 11 has surpassed their tax collection target for the cumulative period of January to June by more than P53 million representing around 2.64 percent.
Aguila said their goal for the first semester was P3.5 billion, and they were able to successfully collect P3.2 billion.
He thanked the tax payers in the region for the valuable support extended to the government’s tax campaign program.
The blessing and inauguration of the BIR Records Building was capped by a holy mass, and the conduct of a dialogue by BIR Deputy Commissioners Aspe, King and Sales with the personnel of BIR Region No. 11.(JCM/VWV/PIA 6-Iloilo)
