Barangay food terminals receive livelihood equipments and cash grants

DAET, Camarines Norte, Feb. 13 (PIA) -- Three Barangay Food Terminals were granted livelihood equipments worth P95,539 and additional capital of P50,000 each here last Thursday (Feb.9).

The three Barangay Food Terminals are: Country Side Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (CARBS) of barangay Maulawin of Sta. Elena town; Rural Improvement Club (RIC), and Samahan ng Manggagawa at Mangingisda ng Banocboc (SMMB) both in the town of Vinzons.

Provincial Barangay Food Terminal coordinator Susana R. Cereno, Agriculturist II, said that the equipments and cash grants is an opportunity for the barangays to increase livelihood projects in their locality.

She said that livelihood equipments include: chiller (8 cubic ft.), chest freezer, weighing scales for 20 kilos and 100 kilos, digital weighing scale, 10 plastic crates, one  meat grinder, one electric rice grinder, one electric coconut grinder, and one calculator, all amounting to P93,539.

The three food terminals that received the said equipments and cash grants were among the eight food terminals that did not receive the said equipments and cash grants in the province under the livelihood projects of the Department of Agriculture (DA).

The Barangay Food Terminal aims to bring and sell the agricultural products of the farmers at  the right price to avoid middlemen in selling their produce that in turn will help them to have an additional income. (MAL/RBM-PIA Camarines Norte)
