PRC conducts Catanduanes ’blood donors’ assembly

VIRAC, Catanduanes, Feb. 19 (PIA) -- The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Catanduanes Chapter conducted its 1st Catanduanes Blood Donors’ Assembly February 16 at the PRC Training Hall, Virac, Catanduanes with the theme, “Dugo Mo, Karugtong ng Buhay Ko.”

It is a mission of the PRC to ease the suffering and provide assistance to the most vulnerable. For the year 2010 to 2012, the Catanduanes Chapter was able to help patients in need of blood and to maintain sufficient supply of the precious commodity. 

The activity highlighted the importance of sufficient blood supply in the province.

At present, PRC Catanduanes has its own blood collecting unit/station open for 24 hours. On the year 2010, the unit was able to collected 800 bags of blood 160 of which were served to the indigents.

Donors belong to certain clubs depending on their blood type. These are club type “O+,” club type “A+,” club type “B+” and club type “AB+.” Election of officers for each club were also conducted.(MAL/EAB-PIA Catanduanes)
