The battalion under the leadership of Lt. Col. Wilbur C. Umali, jointly conducted livelihood intervention seminar on organic hog raising at barangay Ipil in Bongabong town.
Based on the report of the Philippine Army, the realization of organic farming project and other livelihood interventions such as use of organic fertilizers in planting rice, vegetables and organic feeding of swine is through the initiative and alliance building of Dante de Lima, National Rice Coordinator of the Department of Agriculture (DA).
De Lima said DA would assure its assistance for a productive and sustainable organic farming in the province of Oriental Mindoro.
However, De Lima said, there is a need for the community to internalize and adopt the essence of organic procedures.
