Academic fest winning piece spices up Cordi month program
BAGUIO CITY, Benguet, Aug 18 (PIA) -- The Cordillera Month celebrations program this year was spiced up with the delivery of a winning piece in the Cordillera regional academic festival.
Rainbow Gutierrez, a student of the Baguio City National High School, who was adjudged first place in the oratorical contest of the academic festival delivered, her piece which focused on the Cordillera month theme, “Looking Back with Pride, Moving Forward with Hope.”
Other winners in the oratorical contest are as follows: second place, Graciel Baroy of Lepanto National High School, Benguet; and third place, Cyrus Van Kurt Solbita of Tabuk National High School, Tabuk City, Kalinga.
The academic festival in the extemporaneous, oratorical and essay contest was part of the Cordillera Month celebration marking the 25th founding anniversary of the region.
Winners were acknowledged during the culminating activity held recently at the Baguio Convention Center.
For the extemporaneous category, winners are, for the first place, Sherald Roy Zapatero of Abra Valley College, Abra; second place, Leonardo Visaya of Kalinga-Apayao State College in Kalinga; and third place, Peter Conrad Gabriel of the University of the Cordilleras, Baguio City.
For the essay writing category: first place, Jason Rey Rivera of Trinidad Central School, Benguet; second place, Amelia Dale Marquez of Bontoc Central School, Mt. Province; and third place, Nerissa Daluyen of Kalinga Liwan West, Kalinga.
The regional offices of the Department of Education, Commission on Higher Education and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority spearheaded the activity. (JDP/SCA-PIA CAR Baguio City)
