Quezon PDRRMC to award 8 best MDRRMs

LUCENA CITY, Quezon, July 5 (PIA) -- The Quezon provincial disaster risk reduction and management council (PDRRMC) will host a flag-raising ceremony and other activities on July 16 at the provincial capitol compound, Perez Park, in this city.

This is in line with the celebration of National Disaster Month in compliance to Executive Order No. 137 declaring the month of July as National Disaster Consciousness Month.

Prior to the flag-raising ceremony, there will be a motorcade at the city proper to be participated in by PDRRMC members, employees of the provincial government and volunteers of PDRRMC-Quezon.

Other activities include the awarding of best municipal disaster risk reduction and management councils (MDRRMC) and awarding of best barangay disaster risk reduction and management council in Quezon province.

The best MDRRMCs to be awarded are the municipalities of Pitogo, Tiaong, Mauban, Tayabas, Lucban, General Nakar, Mulanay and Infanta, Quezon.

Barangay Pinaglapatan in Infanta, Quezon will also be awarded as best barangay disaster risk reduction and management council in Quezon. Kabalikat 888 on the other hand will receive a plaque of recognition.

Dr. Henry Buzar of PDRRMC-Quezon said the eight MDRRCs are most active. “They have disaster equipment to be used in time of disaster,” Buzar added.

PDRRMC members will conduct a static display of rescue equipment at the provincial capitol compound in this city from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 16.

Expected to attend are Office of the Civil Defense Regional Director Vicente F. Tomazar who is also the executive officer of RDRRMC-4A; Quezon Gov. David C. Suarez, chairman of PDRRMC-Quezon and Dr. Henry Buzar, provincial disaster risk reduction and management officer. (Ruel Orinday,PIA- Quezon)
