Quezon launches English proficiency, ICT program
TAYABAS CITY, Quezon, May 23 (PIA) -- The provincial government of Quezon and the Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP) have launched an advanced English proficiency training and global competitiveness assessment tool last May 21 at the Quezon Science High School in Tayabas.
The training is under the "Serbisyong Suarez Information Communication Technology (ICT) development program", which aims to help college students in Quezon province through English proficiency training using the computer as a tool.
Under the advanced English proficiency training program, 50 selected teachers from Southern Luzon State University, Lucban, Quezon; Lucena City College; Philippine Normal University, Lopez, Quezon and Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), Lopez, Quezon will undergo an advanced English pre-employment training, a 100-hour English proficiency using industry-developed consciousness and methodology, facilitated by BPAP.
After the training, teachers will impart their knowledge and skills to their students in their respective schools. About 1,380 college students of said colleges and universities will benefit in this program.
Quezon governor Jayjay Suarez in his message during the launch of the said program said the Quezon Science High School is a good venue for the training because it has complete facilities such as computer sets and other equipment that are needed by the teachers.
“Quezon is the first province in the country to tap advanced English proficiency training program in the country and teachers play a vital role in this program” Suarez added.
The training also aims to give an opportunity to college students through advanced English pre-employment training in preparation for their future jobs such as call center agents.
Also present during the launch of the “Serbisyong Suarez ICT program” were Danilo Sebastian Reyes, who represented Benedict C. Hernandez, President of BPAP; Provincial Administrator Rommel Edano; Dr. Azucena Romulo of Lucena City College; Dr. Cecilia Gascon of SLSU-Lucban, Quezon and Engr.
