‘Ecological exhibit’ to highlight Lucena’s 51st founding anniversary
LUCENA CITY, Quezon, Aug 9 (PIA) -- The city government of Lucena will hold an ‘ecological exhibit’ as part of the week-long celebration of the city’s 51st anniversary on August 20.
City Executive Assistant Amelita Balagtas said the exhibition will highlight handmade products from recyclable wastes like paper, plastic bottles, tetra packs, aluminium foil and others. It will also promote solid waste management.
“This will teach the residents of this city to recycle the reusable wastes. These can be made as bags, mats, pillows and other decorative ornaments and can be an additional source of income for many underemployed residents,” Balagtas added.
Several activities like the agri-aqua trade fair, ‘palarong pinoy’, singing contest for students and the “Lakan and Mutya ng Lucena” personality search will also be held.
Thirty-three barangays will showcase their agricultural, aqua produce and recycled products in the celebration. (CPG/JMG,PIA-Quezon with report from Aida C. Dapula, PIO-Lucena)
