BIR-Lucena intensifies tax collection campaign
LUCENA CITY, Quezon, March 28 (PIA) --The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) here is intensifying its tax collection campaign to meet its targetted collection of P2 billion.
BIR district officer Yolanda Ferrer urged city residents and other towns of Quezon to pay actual and accurate taxes.
“We conducted tax campaign to encourage business entrepreneurs, private offices and other individuals to pay their taxes on time. We also advised the accountants and bookkeepers to prepare accurate tax declaration,” Ferrer said, adding that through the collected taxes, many government programs, projects and services are delivered to the people.
On the other hand, BIR assistant regional director Dr. Marina de Guzman said they are intensifying tax campaign through information dissemination activities like people’s assembly to educate the people on the importance of paying taxes accurately and timely.
Moreover, Lucena City Mayor Barbara Ruby Talaga said that tax campaign is necessary to make the people aware on the importance of tax collection in the implementation of infrastructure projects like roads and bridges construction.
Talaga added the city government has already collected P10 million taxes from the public employees and P15 million taxes from the suppliers of equipments. (CPG/JMG,PIA-Quezon)
