Cavite town use waste materials for constructing roads

ROSARIO, Cavite, July 6 (PIA) -- The local government’s initiative of building roads made of recycled waste materials mixed with sand and cement got the nod from local residents of two barangays.

Residents are grateful and pleased with the project which aims to help protect the environment against pollution and other deadly diseases.

Buddy Villacruz, municipal information office chief and currently public relations officer of the Cavite Communicators Network (CCN) said this type of innovation indicates acceptance from residents living in Barangays Coasta Verde and Wawa 3 as they volunteered together with tricycle drivers and their associations in the construction of the 200-meter road.

Mayor Nonong Ricafrente and other local officials were pleased with the project’s outcome when they inspected the newly constructed road and named it Calle Verde.

Before the construction, residents were always complaining about knee deep flooding and mud caused by minor rain showers.

Meanwhile, Villacruz said another 300-meter road located in front of the Cavite Export Processing Zone was completed using the same materials.

Municipal Engineer Edwin Lupisan said the project saved the local government an estimated P4 million from their coffers. (CPG/RBF/PIA-Cavite/Rosario PIO)
