200 participants grace launching of eUP project at UPLB
LOS BANOS, Laguna, July 1 (PIA) -- More than 200 participants attended the kick-off launch of the eUP at the new College of Arts and Sciences auditorium at the University of the Philipines at Los Banos (UPLB) last June 28.
The project interconnects all UP campuses nationwide was already launched last time at UP Manila and at the UP Open university (UPOU) headquarters in Los Baños. The interconnectivity will mean academic and operational excellence. The project is also in response to UP President Alfredo E. Pascual’s battlecry “One UP,” which means "one standard, the same quality of education, academic excellence and efficiency."
It also allows the university to share resources faster with other higher education institutions without waiting for a messenger that sometimes could take days to received. There will be an exchange of knowledge, experiences and expertise through Web-aided lectures.
The eUP is the flagship project of UP President Alfredo E. Pascual – a system wide computerization project that will interconnect and harmonize Information and Communications Technology (ICT) systems and infrastructure across all UP campuses.
The event was attended by UPLB Chancellor Dr. Rex Victor Cruz, 2nd district Board Member Neil Andrew Nocon as the representative of Governor ER Ejercito, UP System Vice President for development Dr. Elvira Zamora and the deans from the different colleges. (Grace Bondad-Nicolas, PIA4A)
