Calaca farmers train on organic farming

CALACA, Batangas, June 6 (PIA) -- Thirty-five farmers here including agriculture technologists and technicians at the municipal agriculture office (MAO) attended a three-day training on organic farming held recently at the municipal hall.

With the theme “Pagsasanay sa Organikong Pagsasaka (Training on Organic Farming),” the training featured demonstrations and various technologies in farming particularly the production and utilization of organic fertilizers.

The training aimed at providing farmers with additional knowledge and technologies in farming to increase their income with limited expenses, effort and time.

Speakers during the training included Ma. Theresa Valencia, municipal agriculture officer-in-charge of Lemery; Vicky Macalaguim, agricultural technologist of Nasugbu; Sharon Calimag, agricultural technologist of Calatagan; and Florencia Reyes, agricultural technologist of Calaca.

In a statement, Mayor Nas Ona expressed hope that the participants will share the knowledge they gained in the training to the residents in their respective barangays for the benefit of more farmers. (CPG-PIA 4A,Batangas with report from PIO-Calaca)
