BAGUIO CITY, July 13 (PIA) - - The Police Regional Office – Cordillera (PRO-Cor) on Tuesday spearheaded a day of fun, friendly competitions and camaraderie with Baguio-based media practitioners dubbed as PNP-Media Socials with the theme, "Strengthening partnership between PRO-Cor and the Media."

To kick-off the activity, PCSupt Elmer Soria, deputy regional director, welcomed the participants and led the ceremonial shoot for the three-course practical shooting competition at the firing range of Camp Bado Dangwa in La Trinidad, Benguet.

Sixteen members of the local media headed by PNP Press Corps president Dexter See of Manila Standard Today, Baguio Correspondents and Broadcasters Club (BCBC) past president Jun Villanueva of Bombo Radyo, and Joseph Zambrano of Philippine Information Agency joined in the practical shooting competition.

The PRO-Cor basketball team won the game, as did the badminton competition. The media people dominated the chess matches.

Capping the activity was dinner and socials on the roof-top of Abanao Square building where PRO-Cor regional director PCSupt Benjamin Magalong and Philippine Information Agency regional director Helen Tibaldo awarded the trophies to the winners.

Magalong thanked all those who participated in the day’s events and all who attended the socials as he called for continuing harmonious good camaraderie and working relations with the local media, which according to him is the best among the experiences he had all over the country.

“We believe that we, in the PNP, cannot accomplish our mission, cannot carry out our responsibilities, unless we have the support of the community and the people of the media," he said.(JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)`
