DOLE to spearhead June 12 – Kalayaan Jobs Fair

BAGUIO CITY, June 1 (PIA) - - Good news to job seekers. The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is all set to conduct a ‘Kalayaan’ jobs fair on June 12, in line with the celebration of Philippine Independence Day with the theme, ‘Kalayaan: Pananagutan ng Bayan’.

According to DOLE-Cordillera Regional Director John Henry Jalbuena, the said jobs fair at the local level will be held on June 12, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. at the University of Baguio Gymnasium.

To date, a total of 23 local employers with 4,534 job vacancies and 13 overseas recruitment agencies with 5,385 job orders will be participating the jobs fair, Jalbuena disclosed.

Jalbuena stressed that top local job opportunities available include customer service representatives, IC (integrated circuit) assembler, data analyst, and carpenter and mason. For overseas work job opportunities, there will be care takers, drivers, factory workers, technicians, domestic helpers and professionals.

Jalbuena is advising job seekers to come in appropriate attires and bring along their resume, 2x2 ID pictures, certificate of employment (for those formerly employed), diploma and/or transcript of records, and authenticated birth certificate. They should bring many copies of their documentary requirements for multiple job applications.

The scheduled Kalayaan jobs fair is only among the many jobs fair that DOLE-CAR has set this 2012. During the May 1, Labor Day Jobs Fair, a total of 1,532 jobseekers comprising about 20 percent of the 7,673 total registrants in the simultaneous jobs fair held at the Baguio Convention Center, SM City Baguio and Abra Provincial Capitol, were hired-on-the-spots.
