CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Nov 12 (PIA) -- Department of Health (DOH) Center for Health Development 3 (CHD 3) eyes on further improving its service to the people of Central Luzon to gain an International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification next year.

“Each CHD was given a time frame of 18 months to be ISO certified. But we, in the CHD 3, are targeting to get the certification in just seven months,” Regional Director Leonita Gorgolon stated.

Taking part on the journey for ISO certification, CHD 3 conducted series of orientations and trainings for all its employees.

These activities aim to make sure that all employees understand well why the entire DOH need to institutionalize a Quality Management System (QMS) certifiable to ISO 9001:2008.

“Being ISO certified ensures global competitiveness, gain the citizen’s confidence, and align the agency’s vision with the current thrust of the national government on good governance and anti-corruption,” Gorgolon added.

DOH will be the first government agency to have a department-wide ISO QMS certification and is now regarded to be the biggest organization seeking the ISO certification.

ISO is a non-governmental organization and the world’s largest developer and publisher of international standards on good quality management practices.

The figures 9001:2008 is a model created by the ISO for setting up a valuable and applicable QMS and standards for ensuring quality services, environmental friendliness, safety, reliability, efficiency and interchangeability. (CLJD with reports from DOH-CHD 3)
