DOH, Pampanga to put up 14 rural health units

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga May 23 (PIA) -- Department of Health (DOH) and the provincial government of Pampanga are set to construct a total of 14 rural health units (RHU) throughout the fourth district of Pampanga.

Governor Lilia Pineda led the blessing rite for the new RHU in Barangay Poblacion of Santo Tomas town, the first among the 14 rural health units to be constructed in the mentioned district.

DOH regional director Leonita Gorgolon graced the event and was very optimistic on the progress of their project.

“DOH is very grateful and would like to congratulate the provincial government of Pampanga, the municipal government of Sto. Tomas, congressman Anna York Sagum for this beautiful building, worth P1.5 million plus P1 million for the equipment,” Dr. Gorgolon proudly declared.

According to Pineda, the construction of these RHUs is very significant so that patients with minor ailments need not go to district hospitals. Kapampangans will be provided with basic medical assistance at the health centers which are more accessible.

Moreover, the governor stressed that such projects would not materialize without the support of DOH and especially the members of the provincial board.

“Nagagawa ko lang po ito dahil sa magandang ugnayan namin ni vice governor Joseller Guiao at ng mga board members lalo na po nina Nestor Tolentino at Ric Yabut dito sa fourth district (This was possible because of vice govenor Joseller’s aid and the board members specifically Nestor Tolentino and Ric Yabut of the fourth district),” Pineda shared.

Meanwhile, Gorgolon shared the DOH’s partnership with local government units for the enrolment of the indigent citizens in the National Health Insurance Program.

“Gusto natin mabigyan ng access ang mga mamamayan sa quality health services, through these beautiful health centers and hospitals (We want the populace to have access to quality health services through these beautiful health centers and hospitals)” Dr. Gorgolon ended.
