73 barangays flooded in Tarlac

TARLAC CITY, Tarlac, August 9 (PIA) – The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) reported that 73 barangays in eight towns of the province are now flooded brought by the effects of southwest monsoon or Habagat.

Of this, more than 12,000 families were affected, a thousand of which were served inside the 20 evacuation centers, while approximately 7,000 are served near their homes as per data from the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO).

To augment the situation, the provincial government had extended assistance of P278,596.76 to Paniqui and P55,499.325 to Capas which had the most number of people affected.

The local government unit had also given P47,502 to Paniqui, while P69,575 to Sta. Ignacia.

Among the other towns affected include La Paz, Camiling, Concepcion, Capas, Gerona, and Moncada.

As per partial damages of infrastructure, roads and bridges cost of damage is at P189,000, and slope protection and dikes at P279,000,000.

PDRMMC assured that all roads and bridges in Tarlac province are still passable.

As of 6 p.m. yesterday, two gates of San Roque Dam are still open at 2.5 meters opening releasing water at 642 cubic meters per seconds (cms). (RmB/JGB-PIA3)
