No classes in pre-school, elem and HS in Tarlac today
TARLAC CITY, Tarlac, Aug 8 (PIA) -- Classes in pre-school, elementary and high-school levels in all 17 municipalities and the City of Tarlac are suspended today.
Vice Governor Pearl Pacada said this will ensure safety of the students, in the face of the steady rise of floodwater and swelling of the river system in the province as reported by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC).
She added that “the forecast at the weather bureau and all indicators show that the inclement weather will not improve the next days.”
PDRRMC said the towns of La Paz, Paniqui, Sta. Ignacia, Camiling, Concepcion, Capas, Gerona, and Moncada in Tarlac province are now flooded due to Typhoon Gener and southwest monsoon as of yesterday affecting 35 barangays.
Of these barangays, seven are in La Paz; five in Paniqui; six, Concepcion; 10, Sta. Ignacia; four, Capas; and one each in Gerona, Moncada and Camiling. The depth of flood in these barangays ranges from one to three feet. (RmB/JGB-PIA3)
