DTI-3 intensifies monitoring of Christmas light products

MANILA, Nov 15 --The Department of Trade and Industry-Region 3 has intensified the monitoring of Christmas lights and decorations in Central Luzon starting November this year.

“Since Christmas lights and decorations are in high demand this time of the year, we have intensified the monitoring of stores that sell these products,” said DTI-3 Director, Blesila Lantayona.

Lantayona added that strict monitoring is being done in all the seven provinces in the region although the focus is in Angeles City and San Fernando City since many outlets and stores selling these decorations are based here.

“Many stores in the region offer cheap Christmas decorations including lights but the consumer should consider not just the price but also the safety of the products they are buying. Monitoring of these products focuses on aspects that will insure their quality and safety”, said DTI-3 Information Officer, Wilfred Carbonell.

Carbonell added that DTI-3 needs more partners from the private sector with the heightened awareness and consciousness of consumer rights so they will be able to tell the businesses about possible violations.(DTI 3/PIA)
